Overland Park Attorney Receives 2024 Rick Worrel Community Legacy Award

Overland Park, Kan., December 4, 2024Greg Musil is the 2024 recipient of the Richard A. “Rick” Worrel Community Legacy Award, presented by the Overland Park Chamber of Commerce. The award was presented at the organization’s Annual Meeting on December 4, 2024. The event also featured panels of community and business leaders sharing examples of the power of partnership leading to business, community and personal success.

A Partner with Rouse Frets White Goss Gentile Rhodes, P.C., Musil has assumed dozens of leadership roles in the community over the last 30 years. He served on the Overland Park City Council for two terms and was Council President. He served three terms on the Johnson County Community College Board of Trustees where he served as chair and was on JCCC’s Foundation Board, raising funds for scholarships.

Musil chaired the most recent Johnson County Charter Commission, a nearly year-long commitment of public hearings and lengthy committee discussion. He also co-chaired ForwardOP, the community visioning process of the City of Overland Park. His many other leadership roles have included chairing the Kansas Bar Association, K-State School of Leadership Studies Advancement Council and Kansas Leadership Center.

Musil’s involvement in the Overland Park Chamber dates to his participation in the Leadership Overland Park program in 1991. He served as Chairman of the Board in 2008 and has been active in the Chamber’s Public Policy Committee. In his role as emcee, Musil has made the annual Good Morning, Overland Park! breakfast one of the Chamber’s most popular events. He also shares his knowledge of Overland Park history with each class in the Leadership Overland Park program.

The person nominating Musil for the award likened him to Rick Worrel in that “Rick Worrel’s commitment to improving and advancing the community was always his primary motivation. It was never about recognition, self-promotion or worrying about who received credit nor if his position ‘won or lost,’ but rather about getting the best possible outcome.”

The Overland Park Chamber established the Worrel Award in 2019 to honor longtime community leader Rick Worrel and to recognize individuals who exemplify Worrel’s legacy of lifetime service to the community.

Also during the program, 2024 Chamber Chair Cindy Rock reviewed accomplishments of the year and 2025 Chairman Josh Beck, MarksNelson; previewed Chamber plans for the year ahead.

Presenting sponsor of the 2024 Annual Meeting was AdventHealth. Gold Sponsors were ALLO Business and Phoenix Home Care & Hospice. Silver Sponsor was Kutak Rock LLP and Bronze Sponsor was Association Insurance Services, Inc.
